On one of the last large untouched parcels in East Ojai, a home is conceived as a health camp for a client with an auto-immune disorder and sensitivity to mold. By separating the functions of the home into separate and distinct structures; gathering/cooking/eating, sleeping/resting, bathing, and exercising/meditating/healing, and surrounding these spaces with a variety of outdoor spaces and paths, the ritual of daily life is transformed and seen in a new light. Drastic measures, including elimination of any wood or porous material that can attract mold, exposing and separating all plumbing from interior living spaces, large overhangs, house-issued clothes and removal of all wifi or digital interference make for a wholly unique and grounded experience.
